Spring is here, and so is a season of rebirth, creation, and new ideas for our ministry. That’s the reason why January 31st of this year we had our first fundraiser banquet ever! To God is the Glory! The process was difficult, but a lot of fun! Everyone in the office cooperated. I did a short presentation on our current projects in Cuba and ’s vision and for the future.

I’ll also admit I was very nervous, especially when I got there and realized that I would have to translate from Spanish to English (which is a little harder for me). However, God who knows all languages helped my translation to be fluid. Our Chairman of the Board, Skip Allcorn, gave an impacting opening prayer and Jose Garcia, a fellow board member was also there. We were elated to have an attendance of nearly 60 people and especially joyful to see all the agencies that work with us present. ’s staff was honored to have the help of Mercy Costa; she helped initiate the banquet and put in a great amount of effort to make our event a worthy one. As part of the event, we played a video about the role of our ministry in Cuba, many were deeply touched, and we hope to have many more chances to minister through our new video in the future.

The main speaker Angel Aloma did a spectacular job, he made everyone laugh and cry, talking about his personal experiences in the island, the lifestyle of Cubans and what a great gift The Lord has given us; a desire to lend a helping hand to our sisters and brothers in Cuba who are silently screaming for deliverance. This was an opportunity that had to witness the gospel of Jesus Christ for the first time to many of the attendees. We all left with a completely different perspective on life, Angel’s words were heavily pounding on our hearts, “… what is wrong with us living here, is that we don’t have time to cultivate that Cuban warmth, or even say hello to our neighbors. In Cuba your neighbors are your family.” We left filled with satisfaction and hope that planted a seed that will eventually grow and yield fruit. Meanwhile, we’ll pray, work, prepare for our next fundraiser banquet next year. The results are up to the Lord, the Creator of heaven and earth, and Owner of everything.
