-The only Evangelical bookstore is located in Havana and was allowed to open in 1988. Before the Revolution there were several bookstores in Havana and other locations.

-According to a 1988 report released in Geneva, Switzerland, by the Ecumenical Council of Cuba, Western Cuba Baptists still have some control over the Baptist Cementery in Havana.

-More than 100 Protestant schools were nationalized in 1961. The government is in charge of education. An exception to the rule was made in the case of seminaries and Bible institutes operated by the churches.

-All hospitals and medical centers are operated by the government. The Baptist Hospital in Havana ( “Clinica Bautista” ) was nationalized in the 1960s. Several medical clinins operated by the churches ceased operation after American missionaries returned to their country.
